Increasing Efficiency and Savings with Heating Controls
Installing complete heating controls, especially with today’s “smart home” technology, can save you a bundle on your energy bills each month. The heating control system monitors the temperature of every room and acts to raise or lower the temperature of the thermostat and water heater. The complete heating control system includes several individual elements (such as thermostats and timers) that all work together to keep your home comfortable and keep your bills down. This is one upgrade that will almost assuredly pay for itself in the form of lower utility bills and it will help you feel good knowing you are being energy efficient.
Installing a Low Temperature Freeze Alarm
In Alaska, installing low-temperature freeze alarms can be one of the best investments you make in your home. This is especially important if you have a home that remains vacant part of the year (such as a cabin, summer home or rental property.) Installing these alarms will give you notice that something has gone wrong, allowing you to remedy the situation before the pipes freeze or another harm comes to the property. Depending on the system installed, you may be notified by text message or phone call. This simple warning system could make the difference between a disaster and a minor inconvenience. Ask KLEBS about freeze alarms solutions that work best in your home.
Adding Radiant Heating or Ice-free Driveways
Unlike forced air systems, radiant floor heating systems warm your Alaskan home through the floorboards and even your furniture. Warming coils are placed beneath the floor, allowing gentle warmth to “radiate” throughout. This is one of the most efficient forms of heating available today. And if you’re tired of shoveling snow and ensuing backaches, consider installing a radiant ice melt system in your driveway and/or walkways. KLEBS offers installation of new systems, and we also repair and maintain all the well-known brands. Once you’ve experienced radiant heat, you’ll be hooked to the warmth, efficiency, and ease of use of this simple solution.
Forced Air Furnace vs. Boiler vs. Radiant Heating Systems
Boiler/Baseboard Heating
Boiler-powered baseboard heating systems are an excellent way to keep your home warm and comfortable all winter long. While this is a whole-house solution and will require some installation, the cost may be more affordable than you think. For many, the upfront cost is well worth it because of the overall efficiency of the system. The system is easily adjustable so that bigger rooms receive more heat than smaller areas. At KLEBS, we can work with you to install a new baseboard heating system or maintain and repair your existing system. Contact us today to learn more about what makes baseboard heating such a great option.
Radiant Floor Heating
Unlike forced air systems, radiant floor heating systems warm your Alaskan home through the floorboards and even your furniture. Warming coils are placed beneath the floor, allowing gentle warmth to “radiate” throughout. This is one of the most efficient forms of heating available today. KLEBS offers installation of new systems, and we also repair and maintain all the well-known brands. Once you’ve experienced radiant heat, you’ll be hooked to the warmth, efficiency, and ease of use of this simple solution.
Forced Air Heating
A forced air heating system uses ductwork to distribute warm air throughout your home. Supply (blowing) vents bring air to each room from the furnace while return ducts grab cold air and bring it back to the furnace to be reheated. There is a powerful fan inside the furnace that propels the warmed air throughout your home. This type of heating system keeps your whole house warm, even when it is very cold outside. We can install a new system or work with you to repair and maintain your existing system to assure it works as expected all winter long.
