Commercial Estimator
KLEBS Mechanical is looking to add to our dynamic Commercial team; we are wanting to add an Estimator who has experience in the Commercial world. This individual will spend time working independently as well as part of a team to ensure Commercial projects are handled with an eye on the budget and achieving client satisfaction.
Summary of Duties:
Under general supervision, the Estimator is responsible for ensuring the commercial construction division has enough backlog to meet ongoing sales and revenue goals. This includes finding, tracking and developing project leads, and assembling and submitting complete and accurate bids and proposals for commercial mechanical, plumbing, piping, and HVAC projects using current pricing and labor cost data.
Specific Duties – include the following and other duties as may be assigned:
- Implementation of the company’s strategic marketing plan for the Commercial division.
- Survey the market for possible projects, market the company to new clients, and develop potential business opportunities.
- Thorough review of all bid opportunities, RFP documents, plans, specifications, bid requirements, and qualifications needed. Discuss “bid/no bid” decision with CEO.
- Review site conditions either personally or with PM team.
- Research and estimate project labor and material costs; gathering data as necessary to ensure accuracy of cost proposals and bids.
- Develop execution plan for each estimate.
- Review and prepare final proposals for the CEO to review.
- Maximize use of Trimble estimating software, ensuring content and pricing is updated and accurate.
- Review bid schedule, bid results and bid awards with the CEO.
- Negotiate competitive subcontractor and supplier quotes that are in the best interest of the company and ensure project harmony and success.
- Prepare documents for turnover meeting, thoroughly communicate the project scope of work, selected lead items and bid factors/ideas utilized during the estimate phase in the Estimate Turnover Meeting with the Construction team.
- Gather data for, monitor the assembly of, and advise the construction team members on, pricing of change orders.
Qualifications:
- AA degree in construction management or related field (Preferred)
- Mechanical Administrators License (Preferred)
- Minimium of two (2) years construction estimating experience
- Knowledge and experience in Trimble Autobid Software (Preferred)
- MS Office proficiency: Word, Excel, Outlook, Project
- Clean DMV Report and the ability to be insured
